The Nogent Nuclear Power Plant is situated in the French commune of Nogent-sur-Seine, on the right bank of the Seine. It is located 120 kilometres south-east of Paris and produces about a third of the yearly electricity consumption of Île-de-France (Paris) and employs around 700 regular workers. France derives about 75% of its electricity from nuclear energy, due to a long-standing policy based on energy security. France is the world's largest net exporter of electricity due to its very low cost of generation, and gains over 3 billion euros per year from this.
